RICHARD CROOK Obituary

CROOK, RICHARD LEE Richard Lee Crook passed away peacefully at his home on September 25th, 2010 of natural causes. He was born on June 8th, 1945 to parents Nathan and Jean Crook, in Red Bluff, CA. He was a graduate of Red Bluff High School, where he played football and baseball. After graduation he began his distinguished real estate career in Gridley, CA. In 1995, he realized his lifelong dream by co-founding Ashbrook Communities, along with his partner and friend, Timothy McGowan. He served in the Real Estate development industry for 45 years. He was an active member of the San Diego and Riverside BIA. In addition to his real estate career, Richard was an active member of the Fallbrook community for over twenty years, supporting many philanthropic causes. He was an avid tennis player and a very special member of the Fallbrook Tennis Club. He loved spending time outdoors with family and friends, whether it was hunting, fishing, boating, mountain biking, or skiing. Richard is survived by his two children Erica Castellanos and Ashley Crook, son-in-law Carlos Castellanos, grandsons Gabriel and Julian Castellanos, sister Trudi Mendoza, and nephews Cory and Casey Mendoza. He was a much loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Tradition Estate, 1602 South Mission Road, Fallbrook, CA 92028. Dad's kind and generous spirit has touched many lives, and he will be greatly missed. In the wise words of his 4 year old grandson, Gabriel, "Bye, Bye Grandpa, I love you!" Services are being coordinated by Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary, (760) 728-1689.

Dear big brother: I still can't believe you are not with us. You were my rock. Your show of affection was to make sure we were all happy or having a good time. In hindsight, I don't think I told you enough times, what a great brother you were and I will miss you bunches.... Trudi

Didn't know Richard all too well, but do know, the times we were lucky enough to be around him he could light up a room like no other. Stay strong and remember all the good times...I know there were many.

Richard-We made many trips together these past 4+years....sking, boating, "pirating" in the Caribbean, and playing tennis with the other "geezers" at FTC. I loved your friend Crissy's comments on the way you laughed (using your hands)....that helped define your joy even more. You were the best "pelican trainer" I've ever seen....Reenie and I will miss you on "the crew" on the other voyages we'd planned, but we'll finish completing our "bucket list" together at sometime in the future. You were "as good as it gets."

I remember Rick mostly from 8th grade in Red Bluff at Bidwell school, 1958-1959. Back then we called him Ricky. 8th grade was kinda like the T.V show "Happy Days" with the "Fonze". Those memories of all our friends including Rick were fun times. I remember him as being very happy and laughing a lot. God Bless his friends and family in their very sad loss.

I will remembeer Rick forever, first as my neighbor and friend growing up in Red Bluff but more than that for being my room mate at Chico State in the late 60's. I only wish that one more time we could play cribbage to 500 with the loser buying the next gallon of Red Mountain. Rest in peace dear old friend...Bill Cornelius

Ric will missed by all those he touched. I will especially remember all the good times we shared, Ric's kindness, upbeat personality, humor and generosity. You leave a huge void for all that loved you but we'll never forget all the goodness that you embodied. Good bye my friend, God Bless.
