EDGAR NORTHRUP Obituary

NORTHRUP, EDGAR ALLEN III May 28, 1957 to October 25, 2010 Edgar A. Northrup, long-time member of the real estate and mortgage broker community of San Diego, was discovered dead in his apartment on October 25th, at the age of 53. The exact cause of death is unknown but believed to be accidental. Actively involved with San Diego Association of Realtors® Ambassadors Foundation, Ed taught its Mortgage Broker Certification to realtors. He also helped organize the past three annual golf tournaments that raised $50,000 for the organization to fulfill its mission of providing San Diego Police Department officers who are first-time homebuyers with the opportunity achieve the American dream of homeownership. Ed is survived by his 21-year-old daughter, Natalie, and his father, Edgar Allen Northrup, Jr., both from San Diego; and by his sister, Carol, who resides in Oakland, California. A memorial service will be held at the Sorrento Valley El Camino Memorial Park at noon on Wednesday, November 3rd, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, in Mira Mesa. Flowers are welcome but the family encourages that donations be made in Ed's name to the Ambassadors Foundation.

Dear Natalie and Family,

I am so sad to hear about your Dad! You do not know me, yet I have heard about YOU since first meeting him 20 years ago.

As you know, your Dad was a wonderful man. He will be missed by many.

My Dad passed without warning as well. It is a shock and hard to deal with. If you need to talk, I am here for you. 808 651-4563

Blessings to you!

So very, very sorry to hear the news about Ed. I met him as he was moving into the real estate field and we stayed in close contact over the years. Ed had such a nice way about him and a great, warm engaging personality. I also loved his monthly newsletters - quirky and fun!
He often talked about you Natalie and if you're open to it I'd love to hear from you. [email protected]

I always enjoyed chatting with Ed. I considered him my "friendly competition," and I liked knowing that he was still in there and going like the little energizer bunny, even with all the problems our industry faced. Ed had a vibrancy in his walk, his speech and his personality. He was a good spirit and he always had some little nugget set aside to make me laugh. I watched Ed through our parallel careers and recognized him as one of the "good ones."

I am saddened to say goodbye to my comrade in arms and old war buddy. In addition to his family's loss, Ed's passing is a loss to his community and those who loved him. I wish Ed's family the warmth that comes from drawing near to one another and the peace that comes from knowing that his life did make a difference.

I was stunned to hear of Ed's passing. Ed was a bright spot in the office every day we worked together. He was the epitome of "nice". My deepest sympathy to his darling Natalie and family.

Wow Ed, what a shocker it is to hear this about you! You were always so polite and laid back. You were a great manager of mine (ours) in the SDRPC. You always had an open door policy and any of us could go to you with a question at any time. My heart goes out to all of Ed's family with my deepest sympathies.

My Deepest sympathy to Natalie, Carol and Mr. Northrup, Jr. on the incredible loss of dear Ed. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. I was so shocked to hear this and deeply saddened.
I worked with Ed at General Mortgage for many years and remember him bringing Natalie to the office. Natalie, as you know, he was so proud of you and loved you so much.
You are all in my prayers and ask that the Holy Spirit would comfort you in the months and years ahead.

So sorry for the loss of Ed. He was truely one of the nicest, generous and good hearted people we've ever known. In business and friendship, he was a man of honesty and integraty. Gone to soon, we will miss that genuine 'how ya doing today?'. P.S. and his well written and entertaining monthly newsletters. Our deepest sympathy to the family.

I am proud to say that Ed was a friend of mine. He was a soft spoken, honest man that was always there when a volunteer was needed. We shared time on the golf course, in business and at SDAR committees - golf was the most fun. My deepest condolences to the family. Ed, I will miss you very much.

Deepest sympathy to Natalie, Carol and Mr. Northrup, Jr. on your immense loss. Ed assisted my clients some times with home loans and always did a great job. He came to an open house for me once and helped a new, growing family buy the home I was showing. His guidance and care helped an overwhelmed young mom and dad with a 9 month old and twins on the way to find stability, peace of mind, and home! I loved being on his mailing list...his newsletters were the best. I hope his family gets to read them....my favorites were his bike trips and escapades. He was quite a good writer and had a beautiful sense of humor. He will be missed.
