ANNA LOUISE LAIRD

LAIRD, ANNA LOUISE November 2, 1923 to Oct. 21, 2010 Anna Louise Laird, born on November 2, 1923, died peacefully in her sleep on October 21, 2010, at the age of 86. Anna was a native San Diegan and no matter where she and her husband Claude traveled, she was always glad to return to her hometown where she happily spent her long life. Anna was preceded in death ten years ago by her beloved husband of 56 years Claude Laird, and two years ago by her loving son William Laird. She is survived by her son Robert Laird and his family, daughter Elizabeth St. John and her family, and daughter-in-law Jeannine Laird and her (and Bill's) family. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews and her good friend whom she met late in her life, Dot Haber. As a young woman, Anna's passion was dancing. She attended USO events in downtown San Diego and danced many a night away, delighting in the rhythms of jitterbug and swing tunes of her era. She gave up her dancing to marry the love of her life, Claude, who unfortunately shared neither the talent nor her passion for dancing! However, they both shared the joy and love that came from raising their three children and participating in being adoring grandparents. Anna was an exceptional wife and mother. Her husband and children were the core of her life and taking care of them brought her great joy and contentment. She was a sweet, caring, and loving lady who didn't have a mean bone in her body. She is missed dearly, but she will reside in our hearts always. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral. Instead, the family will hold a graveside memorial for her where she will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Claude.
