BEATRICE MITCHELL Obituary

MITCHELL, BEATRICE Jan. 30, 1922 to Oct. 4, 2010 Beatrice C. Huntzicker was born in Wheaton, Minnesota, January 20, 1922. She spent her early years in Wheaton with her parents and brother and sister. In 1936 they moved to Minneapolis where she graduated from high school in 1940. After attending the Minnesota School of Business she was employed by the American Surety Company for four years before marrying Marvin Mitchell, a registered pharmacist, on August 23, 1946. In 1947, they moved to San Diego where Marvin had previously spent two years in the Navy. He had been stationed in Balboa Park at Navy Hospital Corp School where he was an instructor. He fell in love with San Diego and persuaded Bea to move there. A daughter, Roxanne, was born in October 1947. In 1949, Bea started meeting with other unaffiliated P.E.O's in San Diego. Bea had been initiated into her mother's Chapter BJ in Minneapolis in 1945. In 1951, Chapter NN was organized in La Jolla. Her youngest daughter, Dianne, was born in August 1951. She was an active member of Chapter NN until 1966 when she went to work for the County of San Diego in the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. She worked for 18 years before retiring in 1984. She has served Chapter NN as Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer and President and Treasurer of San Diego Reciprocity. She was a member of Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, and giving her orchids to friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Marvin, her sister Flo, her daughters, Roxanne and Dianne, three grandsons, Raymond, Jeffrey, and Steven, and two great- grandsons, Gabriel and Nathan. A memorial service will be held at Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CEBC Mission Trust Fund.
