BETTY WEINBERGER

WEINBERGER, BETTY Betty Weinberger passed peacefully at home on October 10, 2010, at age 77, surrounded by loved ones. A loving wife, mother and grandparent, she is survived by her soul mate, George, with whom she was married 56 years, her son Lawrence, his wife Judi, their children Gregory and Daniel; and her daughter Ilene, Ilene's life partner, Patricia, and their children, Elizabeth and Lauren. Predeceased by siblings Susan and Paul, she is survived by siblings Rachael, Bud and Harry, plus sisters- and brothers-in-law Jerry, Laura, Judi, Laurie and Ellie and dozens of their children and grandchildren. Born in the Bronx, NY, Betty graduated from Taft High School. She was a homemaker, a bookkeeper in Manhattan's garment industry and a successful realtor/broker in Teaneck until moving to San Diego in the early 1980s. Betty loved her water exercise and Mah Jongg. She was deeply involved in charitable work since age 18, having volunteered with various Veteran, Mental Health services, the March of Dimes, Jewish Women International, and Rachel's House. An active leader in the League of Women Voters, Betty most recently served as moderator of pro-con debates between political candidates. Her passion for political and social service and justice continues on through family members. There will be a private gathering of family and friends in celebration of Betty's life and inurnment at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.
