DON RISK Obituary

RISK, DON C. March 3, 1937 to Sept. 1, 2010 Don C. Risk, 73, passed away September 1, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Muncie, Indiana, to Donald and Reigna Risk. Don joined the Navy at 17 and enjoyed an adventuresome 20 years before retiring. He was a Mineman, served in Vietnam and a decorated diver in the Sealab program setting the World Record for the deepest dive of 1,025 feet. He was later chosen as a diver for "special projects" that were very instrumental to the security of the United States in helping to end the Cold War. He was awarded several medals, the most significant being the Legion of Merit and the Navy Commendation. He is survived by his loving wife Frances, sons Victor and Don Jr., daughters Kim, Reigna and Kris, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, siblings Kay, Jill, Jim and Wendy, and many friends. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, October 18th, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
