ELAINE DROP Obituary

DROP, ELAINE ELINOR Our beloved wife and mother, Elaine Elinor (Holm) Drop, passed away peacefully at home with her family on December 22, 2010. She was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on August 5, 1932, the youngest of four children. She was married to Andrew M. Drop for 56 years and lived in Chula Vista for 47 years. In addition to loving and nurturing her family, she spent countless hours volunteering in the community including being a Brownie and Cub Scout leader, an active member in the Navy Wives Club, and volunteering with the blind. She was especially devoted to helping at St. Rose of Lima School where she was in charge of the hot lunch program for almost 25 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Andrew, and her children, Linda (Steven) Yerdon, Karan (Mark) Lawless, James (MaryEllen) Drop, and Steven (Debbi) Drop. Proud grandmother of Andrew, Erica, Matt, and Robbie; and great-grand-mother of Emma. She is also survived by her brother, Lyle, in Wisconsin. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 293 H Street in Chula Vista, on January 3, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the San Diego Hospice Foundation, 4311 Third Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.

Elaine was a beautiful woman who was always smiling. My children and I had the good fortune to be able to enjoy her hot lunches at SRL School. We often reminisce about our favorites and have definitely chosen her homemade recipe for sloppy joes -- absolutely delicious. Heaven just welcomed one truly giving and loving woman. Bon Appetit!

My thoughts and Prayers go out to all of the Drop family. Mrs. Drop was a icon to Shasta St, and even though i wasnt around when then kids were going up, the stories i hear about Mrs Drop did for the kids is something only a loving mother would do for all. i will always remember her smile, her laugh, and most of all, her love for everyone around her. may you find peace in your time of sadness. my love to all of the Drop family, Mark Adams
