EMMA ROGNEY Obituary

ROGNEY, EMMA March 24, 1923 to Nov. 3, 2010 Emmy was born in the village of Mercurea in Romania and became a U.S. citizen on August l4, 1942. She was a longtime resident of S.D. East County. Emmy was the widow of Donald Rogney and James McKaig and a dear companion to Julius Hes. She spent the majority of her life as a wife, mother and homemaker and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa. She enjoyed traveling, afternoons in Balboa Park and loved to dance, whether it was ballroom or square dancing. Emmy was a member of the German Club in El Cajon where she had fun working at the Octoberfest and attending the Carnival festivities. She began most of her days at McDonald's drinking coffee in the company of her good friends. Emmy is survived by her brother, Jerry Wachsman, of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Diana Deasy of Jackson, CA, and Laurel Brown (husband Frank) of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Valerie Volkar, Jennifer Barbero, and Patrick Volkar; step-grandchildren, Robert Brown and Shelly Brown; great-grandchildren, Jackson Volkar, Brittany and Bryson Barbero, and step-grandchildren Matty and Kendall Ota. Services were held on November 10, 2010 at Greenwood Memorial Park. Donations may be made in Emmy's memory to Christ Lutheran Church, 7927 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa, CA 91942. Mom, you are missed beyond what words can express and will live forever in our hearts. God bless you.

I am really going to miss Emy. I am a long-time employee of the German American Societies and really enjoyed seeing her and Julius at the many events. My prayers go out to her family.-Love Cindy
