EVA COUTY Obituary

COUTY, EVA May 27, 1920 to Sept. 17, 2010 Longtime Carlsbad resident Eva Couty, 90, passed away peacefully three weeks after learning she had cancer. She and husband Phil moved to Carlsbad in 1946 from San Diego and previously Kentucky where she was a beautician. Eva has been an active member of the Carlsbad Community Church for 56 years and Carls-bad Garden Club for 48 years. She enjoyed line-dancing and singing at numerous retirement homes as a Candy Canes volunteer. Eva and Phil had enjoyed ballroom and square dancing. Preceded in death by husband, Phil Couty, on January 6, 2006, she is survived by son, Wayne Cody (Pat) of Lake Forest, CA; granddaughter Kim Yarrington and grandson David Cody; two great-grandchildren and numerous relatives in Kentucky. Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9th, at Carlsbad Community Church, 3175 Harding Street. Inurnment is next to her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Community Benevolence Fund of Carlsbad Community Church, 3175 Harding St., Carlsbad, CA 92008.

She played an instrumental role in welcoming my grandmother (Joan Couty) when Joan came over from Ireland after marrying my grandfather. She will be missed. Lauren Reece (great niece)
