FLORENCE PANCHERI Obituary

PANCHERI, FLORENCE "PATRICIA" Florence "Patricia" Pancheri passed away peacefully on December 1, 2010. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be missed by many. Born in Negaunee, Michigan to parents Florence and Patrick Flannery, Patricia was a gifted singer and musician. She studied music at Northern Michigan University, after which she shared her passion for music by teaching others as well as playing organ, piano and violin at various public and private events. Patricia married her lifelong husband, Calvin Pancheri, in 1952 and the two shared an endearing 58 years of marriage. An ardent sports fan, Patricia rooted for the San Diego Padres and Chargers. She also loved to play bridge and nickel slots, was devoted to her church and active in both the Newcomers Organization and Kiwanis Club. Most of all, Patricia loved to simply be surrounded by family. Throughout her life, her home was filled with the laughter of her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Patricia was a model for how to live and love. She was preceded in death by her parents and five older brothers. Survivors include her husband, Calvin; children Robert, Patricia, and Thomas; children-in-law Ernest Ryder and Bonnie Pancheri; grandchildren Elizabeth, Melissa, Karin, Michael, John, Anne, Christina, Ryan, Erik, and Thomas Joseph; great-grandchildren Savanna, Camille, Adelaide, and Merrick; and many close friends. A Mass will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Church, 15546 Pomerado Rd., Poway, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Patricia may be made to Kiwanis Club of Poway, California Foundation: P.O. Box 764, Poway, CA 92074-0764.

My mother was Eileen LaFave Neault, cousin to Patricia, from Negaunee. She was the daughter of Bridgette Flannery. Florence was her aunt and my great aunt. My mother passed away in September at the age of 94. I am so sorry for your loss. Seems these ladies were of tough stock being from the UP. May you take comfort in knowing that she is with all the rest of the family and having a wonderful Irish celebration.

One day Patricia called me in a bit of a panic. After realizing that nothing tragic happened, I immediately went over to her house. Patricia had stuffed a huge turkey for the traditional Wednesday night dinner but could not lift the turkey into the oven. We put it in the oven, sat and laughed about the entire event. We will all miss Patricia. Thoughts and Prayers to the entire family.
