HILDA KOTULA Obituary

KOTULA, HILDA LEE March 25, 1916 to Dec. 2, 2010 Longtime Chula Vista resident since 1962, Hilda Kotula passed away on December 2, 2010 from Alzheimer's disease complications. Hilda worked for many years as the head cashier bookkeeper of the San Diego Zoo and later retired from the County of San Diego. In 1942, Hilda met a sailor who would become her husband of 68 years, Mitchel "Mike" Kotula. For 27 years she and her Navy family lived in many bases ultimately through Balboa Naval Hospital where Mike retired in 1964. Hilda was active in Boy Scouts, served as an American Red Cross Volunteer, was one of the first Kelly Girls in Hawaii, was an avid golfer and helped found a chapter of the American Business Woman's Association. Hilda is survived by her husband, her eldest son and younger brother along with two grandsons and three great-grand-children. Thanks to the wonderful management team, physicians and staff at Rio Vista Healthcare Center who were like family to us for the four years of Hilda's residence.
