JACK ANDREWS Obituary

ANDREWS, JACK and PATRICIA "PAT" PAYNE Jack and Pat had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They first met more than six decades earlier at Ogden High School, married, and raised a beautiful family together. Jack was a star athlete in high school and college excelling in football, baseball, and track and field. He served in the Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a career executive with AT&T in Southern California for 27 years before retiring with Pat to Cedar City in his beloved Utah in 1985. Pat was a gifted mezzo soprano, a dancer, and pianist. Her greatest joy was raising her four children and making a home for her family. She had a deep and abiding faith that comforted her and sustained her throughout her life. Jack and Pat shared a passion for golf and enjoyed many wonderful golfing vacations together throughout the country. They enjoyed camping and following the many pursuits of their children and grandchildren. They lived according to exemplary standards of honor, self-reliance and personal responsibility. They placed the family above all things and were the very embodiment of the American dream. They shared a constant and unfaltering love for each other every moment of their long life together. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fiddlers Canyon LDS Ward Chapel, 638 East Canyon Center Drive, Cedar City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services on Saturday, also at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment immediately following at the Cedar City Cemetery, all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences may be made at www.sumortuary.com. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in the memory of Jack and Pat Andrews to the American Alzheimer's Association's Utah Chapter by mail: Alzheimer's Association, Utah Chapter, 855 East 4800 South, Ste. 100, Salt Lake City, Utah 84107 or 1-801-265-1944.

We lived on the next street over. Pat led the music each Sunday. Jack would bring her to church and you could see they were in love. Good people, good neighbors. Our Condolences
