MARGARET HAHN Obituary

HAHN, MARGARET RONAYNE Margaret Ronayne Hahn was born on April 23,1921 in Colorado Springs, CO, and passed away on November 7, 2010 in Lakewood, CA. Margaret attended Sacred Heart Academy and Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, and earned a B.A. in English Literature from Immaculate Heart College in 1943. A model-esque Irish beauty and excellent seamstress with a flair for fashion design, Margaret caught the eye of William Hahn, a second lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps, at a USO dance at the Coconut Grove club at the Ambassador Hotel on March 17, 1943. They were married in Pasadena on August 8, 1943. As her children grew up, Margaret pursued a passion for politics, including work on the senatorial and presidential campaigns of John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. In 1977, she earned a M.F.A. in Architecture and Interior Design. She worked with Japanese architect Junzo Yoshimura to design the Hahns' contemporary Japanese home on the Severn river in Annapolis, Maryland. Margaret and William retired to La Jolla, California in 1983. Margaret is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hahn Raz, a retired attorney, and Moira Hahn, an artist and college professor. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla on December 4th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or the Guardian Angels' Fund at the Maryland Institute College of Art, 1300 Mount Royal Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21217.
