Becky was a friend to our parents Nancy and Donn long before we three Emmons kids were born, so we knew her throughout our childhood and later on as well. I have so many memories of the famous Christmas parties – I always liked seeing the cast of characters I knew would be there. She was such an admirable woman – I was always impressed as a child that she would ski, break her leg, and then go skiing again! We send condolences and love to Lisa, Joe Jr., Peter and all of their extended families from Zette, Luli, and Mush Emmons. I don’t think we will tell my mother, Nancy, her exact contemporary, of her passing, because I would rather have her remember the happy days of their footloose youth in San Francisco!

I first met Beckie in the late 1960s when Democrats were few and far between in Marin. She would call and tell me when a mailing was being prepared, what campaign we were working on. As time went by she was Ms Democrat in Marin County. She was remarkable in her ability to pick the winning candidate, either locally or nationally. Meeting under the oak tree in her lovely garden was a prize invitation. Being part of her cadre, I would arrive with an hors d'oeurve in hand, ready to set up and clean up afterwards. She was all business and didn't give me a chance to say no, I can't.
She was most generous with her expertise, her time and her resources. She loaned Polly Smith and me the money to set up a Mondale desk in Marin. He took Marin and lost the country!!

She was a Marin County School Volunteer both in person and in financial support. She loved being in the classroom and with the students. I loved that part of her and appreciated the support for the new, small program just getting started.

I have missed her since she moved south, but her legacy will be forever.

Becky is very much admired and appreciated for all her contributions to make our world a better place. She is an inspiration. We are so happy that we had the opportunity to get to know Becky during our time together at White Sands of LaJolla, and wish we had known her in her prime too. We are fortunate to continue our friendships with Becky's living legacy - her family.
