RICHARD LEAVERTON Obituary

LEAVERTON, RICHARD (DICK) FREDRICK April 20, 1936 to December 12, 2010 Dick Leaverton of Jamul passed peacefully on December 12th, having suffered a stroke on November 16th. A 1954 graduate of SUHI, Dick served in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord in 1954 - 1955. He was married to Betty (Green) from 1955 - 1969, who together in Spring Valley, raised sons Ron (Marie), Rick (dec. 1997), and Randy (Kathy). Dick and Joan (Weiss) were married in 1970 and enjoyed 40 years together, raising Joan's daughter Joleen (Woods). Dick was employed nearly his entire career by San Diego Glass and Paint, as a store manager, warehouse manager, and glazier. Upon retirement, he and Joan traveled the country with his brother Ralph and sister-in-law Gloria, making friends and memories they shared with their family. Dick enjoyed a passion for children, and is also survived by grandchildren Ryan, Richelle, Reid, Riley, Raquel, and Rori, as well as great-granddaughter Ryea. A private memorial has been held, with interment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery scheduled for January 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
