Rich was, is and will always be my friend. Being a coach with Rich opened a friendship in the late 1980's that lasted our lifetimes, excepting his was unfortunately cut off way too early. His humor, his gentle care helping young men grow into men of character, his hard work ethic and his fast and intense friendship all contribute to a lasting memory. Many men, young and old, including myself are better off in life and better persons because of Rich. He will be missed. I am only sorry i could not attend the memorial as i was out of the USA business.
So long for now Coach Field. See you when i get to where you are going.

Dickie, Brother Dave called me today and conveyed the news. Needless to say we are both in shock. I can't understand why these things happen, other than the timing is not of our own making. We all grew up together and I will always remember the fun times and laughter. Have comfort in knowing we will all be together again in time. Let Dave and I offer our sincere condolences to your family at this time.

Oh, Dickie, you are done too soon! You told us once that "it's not supposed to happen this way." And you're right. It isn't. But it does and our hearts break.
You were a good man, Richard Field; always a friend, always a Komet, always a place in our hearts.
Check in on Lisa & Nate. They'll show you around.
Be at peace, friend...

Goodbye, Dickie. In my memory, you'll always be living on Yarmouth court with your two best friends, Tom and Jerry, hanging out and having fun. I hope you're enjoying those carefree days once more.
