ROBERT ABRAMO Obituary

ABRAMO, ROBERT S. June 14, 1945 - December 21, 2010 Robert Abramo, 65, died of congestive heart failure on December 21, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born in Middletown, CT on June 14, 1945. The consummate engineer, in profession and personality, he worked for 38 years as an Electrical Engineer to the Department of the Navy in CT and then at SPAWAR System Center. He retired in 2006. Bob received many honors throughout his distinguished career of antenna design, including five patents and the Navy's Meritorious Civilian Service Award. After retiring, Bob found a new home in Colorado Springs, CO. He enjoyed bowling, golf, UConn basketball, major league baseball and being "Mr. Fix It", but his passion was for playing music, especially jazz and contemporary Christian music. He was an integral part of the praise service at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karyn; mother-in-law Doris Burch, family from Connecticut: sister Gina (Len) Fredericks; brothers Guido (Barbara) Abramo and Ray (Diane) Santostefano and many nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.

Dear Karyn,
Our prayers for comfort and healing go out to you and your family. We really enjoyed reading the charming obit - working as we both have with engineers, we particularly enjoyed the comment about "the consummate engineer, in profession and personality." Very descriptive! And Carol, also a Presbyterian musician, regrets the loss of a talented and versatile player.
Congratulations on a wonderful marriage to a lovely man, we hope the good memories rush in to ease the loss.
Best wishes, Woody and Carol Nicolson
