Eschenfeldt
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Eugene Eschenfeldt, 91, passed away at 8:11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
Eugene was born June 20, 1922, in Springfield, the son of Herman A. and Esther Brockmann Eschenfeldt. He married Kathleen Eschenfeldt in 1948; she preceded him in death in 2007.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Edward and Robert.
Eugene was a 1940 graduate of Springfield High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was awarded a Victory Medal, a Bronze Battle Star, and Good Conduct Medal. He was then employed by Allis Chalmers for over 30 years.
He is survived by his son, William (wife, Christine Clark) Eschenfeldt; two grandchildren, Emma and Patrick; one sister, Ruth (husband, Michael) Lucas of Versailles, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL, Pastor Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Dept. of Defense.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
