Cynthia Reese Davison Olson 1943 - 2017
Springfield, IL—Cynthia Reese Davison Olson, 74, of Springfield, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at her home surround by her family and friends.
Cynthia was born on May 8, 1943 in Springfield the daughter of Merle and Eugene Davison. She married Gene Olson on March 21, 1980.
She lived and worked in the Springfield area her entire life. She attended Hazel Dell School and was a Springfield High School graduate. She had many close friends since grade school. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and gardening, she was a master gardener. She had a deep interest in fine glassware and jewelry. She was also very involved in several patriotic organizations, DAR, Colonial War, War of 1812 and DVCW, serving as an officer and attended meetings as long as she could. She was always willing to help out. She worked many years for Hope School and retired from Bunn Capital in 2005 after fifteen years.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; son, Charles (Lori) Campbell; daughter, Jessica (Nick) Courtney; two step-daughters, Tamera Olson and Julia (Tom Terry) Olson of Omaha, NE; brother, Burns (Nancy) Davison of Laurel, MT; four grandchildren, Coral, Brandon, Deanne, and Rebecca; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and her four cats (baby's) Scruf, Alice, Samson and Red.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Mt. Hope Cemetery in Nyman, IA.

Cindy - It's hard to believe it has been almost 2 years since you left for a better place with the Lord. I still miss you each and every day. I talk to Gene every once in awhile, and pray he is doing well.

Cindy was a member of our Springfield DAR Chapter, always active (as her health would permit) and one of the kindest, unfailingly helpful and friendly person. Always a smile, even when she was obviously ill and suffering. After decades of suffering we can take heart that at last she is happy and free of pain. She will be missed and not forgotten.

God bless your family, Cindy, has they go through this difficult time. I can think back over the last 57 years that I have known this wonderful, brave and determined lady. We had many good times together. Fun at the lake, camping trip to Kentucky Lake, trip to Chicago, parties at our homes and celebrating our birthdays together in the great month of May. I'm sorry that I will be out of town for the services but know my thoughts and prayers will be with you.
