Hilbert Bahn Obituary

PHOENIX - Hilbert Bahn, 80, of Surprise, AZ died Dec. 21, 2009, at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise.

He was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Wood Lake, MN, the son of David & Esther Bahn. He lived & worked on the family farm til his early 20s. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he moved to Springfield, IL to attend Concordia Seminary. He married Janice Hunter of Virden, IL on August 30, 1959. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2009. They had 3 sons, Tim, David, & Daniel. He was preceded in death by sister, Janet Kane, of St. Paul, MN.

He graduated from Millikin in 1970 and was employed by the State of IL as a data processing supervisor at the Dept. of Public Aid for over 25 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served many years as a deacon. He also volunteered for Friend-In-Deed, Habitat for Humanity & Memorial Hospital.

Survivors: wife; Janice, sons; Tim (wife, Lisa), David, & Daniel, brothers; David, Dennis, & Walden, sisters; Verdina Molstad, Geneva Wetzel, all of MN, brother/sister-in-laws; Cliff & Marilyn Hunter & Carole Aubrey; grandsons: Jeremy & Jacob, & 2 great-grandsons, Jordan & Jason.

Cremation will be accorded by Regency Mortuary in Sun City, AZ. Burial will be at Camp Butler cemetery in the spring.
