LEWISBURG, W.Va. - Margaret L. Byers Lewis, died Wednesday evening, June 30, 2010, at her home in Lewisburg, W.Va.
Born in Sangamon County, Illinois, on May 18, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Verna Imon Adams Byers of Kentucky and Jacob Harold Byers of Springfield, Illinois. Margaret moved to White Sulphur Springs in 1949 as an employee of a specialty shop in Washington D.C., which opened a shop at The Greenbrier Hotel.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Lewis in 2009; her brothers, Robert Anderson Byers and Edward G. Byers and her sisters, Maxine Byers Schou Kopatz and Evelyn Byers Gates, all of Illinois.
Survivors include one sister, Edith Byers Sellers of Wauconda, Illinois; two brothers, Charles Jacob (wife, Marjorie) Byers of Pontiac, Illinois, and Fredrick Dean Byers of Taylorville, Illinois; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a donor to the Human Gift Registry of Marshall University Medical School in Huntington, W.Va. She will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.
Donations may be made to Quota International, Inc., the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer's Association.
