ELLA EKENES Obituary
Ella immigrated to the United States in August 1946 and lived in Ballard, Lynnwood and Norway Park in Mount Vernon until she moved to Creekside in September 2010.
She was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway, Leif Erikson Lodge in Seattle, as well as an Associate Member of the Abel Lodge in Conway. She was always very proud of her heritage and made many trips to Norway to visit friends and relatives.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Shearer of Florence, OR, Helen Neher and son-in-law James Neher of Mount Vernon and Torun Parker of Tacoma, WA. Her extended family includes seven grandchildren: Tyler Shearer of Florence, OR, Jerry Bennett of Chico, CA, Tom Bennett of Seattle and Jon Bennett (Cecelia) of Mount Vernon, Kari Brincefield of Buckley, Tim Richardson of Monroe and Bob Richardson (Lila) of Seattle, WA. She also has fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are planned at Floral Hills Chapel in Lynnwood on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10:00am to 12:30pm including graveside prayers followed by a reception at Floral Hills.
The family suggets remembrances or donations to the Hospice of Northwest, 819 S. 13th St., Mount Vernon, WA 98274 in lieu of flowers.

Torun, Helen and Marilyn... My heart goes out to you with great sympathy. It is unreal that I am writing from Ella,s home country as I greave her passing. She was a dear friend and I (we) shall miss her greatly. She had become almost family and we treasure the many time we spent with her. We smile when we think of her, even with the present sadness.
