JANIE CASTILLEJA Obituary

On June 5, 2011 my beautiful wife of 37 years went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ. She fought a hard and courageous battle with an extended illness but never lost her beautiful smile.

Janie was employed by Skagit Valley College as a pre-school teacher. She touched many lives, always doing her job as a teacher in a caring way. It was really special to see kids that were adults and teens come up to her and thank her with a big hug for being their teacher.

Together Janie and I had 4 beautiful children and were blessed with 9 amazing grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She made a difference in many lives and always lit up a room with her smile, that we will never forget.

I thank the Lord for allowing me 37 beautiful years with her. She will forever be in my heart. "I love you Babe!"

Janie Castilleja is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Frank Castilleja; daughter, Jessica Robinson and husband Jonas and their children Natasha, Conner, Paris, and Alysa; son, Frank Castilleja Jr. and wife Dornita and their children Miah and Brenna; daughter, Rosie Castilleja and husband Mike and their son Hunter; daughter, Sophia Castilleja and her daughter Jazmine. Janie also had a Miniature Dachshund named Hudson whom she loved very much and shared a special bond with. Hudson always brought out her smile. Janie is also survived by her mother, Concepcion Reyna; 4 brothers; 8 sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Reyna; and her grandson, Joshua Michael Delacruz.

A viewing for Janie will be held on Thursday June 9, 2011 at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E. College Way in Mount Vernon from 10am - 4pm followed by a Rosary at St. Charles Catholic Church at 935 Peterson Rd. in Burlington from 7 pm - 8 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church on Friday June 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm followed by a Graveside Service at Hawthorne Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.

Janie was my 1st Head Start co-worker and friend when I started there in 1985. We laughed and laughed so much together!! She was a wonderful person in every way and I will always miss her. I know that you are all mourning the huge loss of your wonderful Janie. She is in the arms of the Lord now and is once again strong and healthy. She loved you all so much and a part of her love, smile, laughter, and kindness lives on in each one of you!

Dear Castilleja Family,

My condolences to each of you. I taught preschool with Janie at Skagit Island Head Start in Sedro-Woolley. The kids loved her! She always had a smile for everyone. I will remember her infectious laugh, her love for preschoolers, how great she looked in the color yellow, her homemade salsa and how proud she was of her own children. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead surrounded by friends and loved ones.
