DENNIS DAVIS Obituary

Dennis J. "Denny" Davis, 72, a resident of Mount Vernon and longtime accountant, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.

Denny was born in Grant, Nebraska on November 2, 1938 to Kenneth and Merlee (Higday) Davis, joining his only brother, Edwin Davis.

Denny lived in Silver Creek, Nebraska near his many aunts, uncles and cousins. In 1945, the Davis family moved to Punkin Center. Denny attended grade school in Hamilton and Lyman where he met many of his lifelong friends.

In 1951 the family moved to Sedro-Woolley where Denny attended Central Grade School. It was here that he met his lifelong love, Lou Ann. This relationship remained steadfast for the next 61 years.

In 1952 Denny attended Sedro-Woolley High School and participated in football, basketball and track. He graduated with the fabulous class of 1956.

Denny and Lou Ann Lemley married in 1959. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1960.

Denny served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Ludwigsburg, Germany in 1961 and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 1962. Upon completion of his military duty in December 1962, he was hired as an accountant by the University of Washington and received his Certification of Public Accounting in 1964. Denny loved his work and enjoyed his long career as a C.P.A in Oak Harbor and Mount Vernon.

Honesty, Integrity and Confidentiality are words that described his character. Denny was a supportive father and grandfather who enjoyed attending their many activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing handball with his friends and loved all of his hunting dogs.

Denny is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; son, Brad Davis (Shari); daughter, Corrin Richter (Todd); brothers-in-law, Robert Lemley (Judy), Richard Lemley (JoAnna); sisters-in-law, Claudean Davis Talbert and Shirley Lemley. He is also survived by 3 grandsons, Zach and Ben Richter of Snohomish and Bo Davis of Deming along with many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the entire staff at North Puget Oncology. No words can describe our appreciation to Dr. Shetabi for his continuing compassion and care of Denny.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the North Puget Cancer Care Center, 2000 Hospital Drive, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 or your favorite charity.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Linda Haddon, Celebrant, followed by a fellowship at the Sedro-Woolley Community Center.

Lou Ann, We just heard of your husband's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. Denny was always a good neighbor and friend. We loved him answering the door @ Halloween! Chelsea loved bringing Tucson over to visit and even spend the night (or week). Our thoughts are with you and we'd love to hear from or see you anytime. Todd Elizabeth Chelsea and Gabby Jann

Lou Ann and family, so very sad to hear of Cousin Den's passing. Have so many fun and fond memories of the times when the family lived in our backyard at "Punkin Center" and later in Lyman and Sedro-Woolley. What a great guy. May love and memories bridge the gap forever.

Lou Ann, my family and I are so very sorry to hear of your loss. I owed so much to Denny because of the help he gave me with my Grandson's finances for almost 18 years, and also the council he gave my Grandson who then chose to become a accountant. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through the coming days.
