DONALD EUGENE EWING

1929 - 2011

Dear Jesus called Don home on April 3, 2011.

He was born December 1, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to Arthur and Ruth (Thompson) Ewing.

He worked with his dad at the Union Pacific Railroad.

He was in active duty in Korea and later served in the last Mule Pack Division. Moving to Washington, he was an electrical contractor, owning his own business, EZ Electric. In 1970, he achieved his Private Pilot License at Arlington Aviation.

An avid rockhound, he loved roaming the mountains digging for rocks and panning for gold. He thoroughly enjoyed playing poker with his friends. He lived, loved and worked on Manitou Ranch in Day Creek for 45 years; training, breeding and betting the race horses he loved. In his final years, he lived to go bowling in his league at Riverside Lanes.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Freda Ewing, married 45 years; 5 children, Chris Foster of Belfair, Stacy Turcott of Bellingham, Don Jr. of Hawaii, Jeff Bargewell of Burlington, Micki Hamlin of Sedro-Woolley; a sister, Betty Brandstrom of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ken, Jack and Jerry Ewing; and sister, Marjory Ewing.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, with Pastor Rick Miles presiding. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall.
