LOIS MCDANIEL Obituary

Lois Marie McDaniel, 74, a resident of Burlington, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Burton Care Center surrounded by her loving family.

Lois was born on December 26, 1936 in Askov, Minnesota, the daughter of Walter C. & Marie A. (Belling) Jensen.

The family resided in Minnesota until 1952 when they moved to the Bow/Edison area and Lois attended Burlington-Edison High School.

On June 25, 1954 she was united in marriage to James E. McDaniel in Everett, Washington and they made their home in several communities in Snohomish and Skagit Counties until finally settling in Burlington in 1998.

Lois worked as an educational aid for schools in Snohomish County for several years.

She loved the outdoors, being born in Minnesota and raised on a farm it was only natural. She especially loved eagles and elk and really all of God's creatures.

She was a longtime and very active member of the Edison Lutheran Church, and a member of the Dairy Wives Association and the 2 cylinder Tractor Club.

Lois is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, James E. McDaniel, Sr. at the family home in Burlington; two sons, James E. McDaniel, Jr., and his daughter Samantha Anne and Walter L. McDaniel; three brothers and their wives, Victor & Judy Jensen of Bow, Tom & Judy Jensen of Burlington and James Jensen in California; her sister, Irene Anderson of Tulalip; sister-in-law and dear friend, Louise Dorcy of Burlington; brother-in-law, Alvin McDaniel and his wife Henrietta and sister-in-law, Nancy Lanphere; a step-sister, Nancie Scott and husband John of Day Creek; step-brothers, James Goerg and his wife Lori and Richard Goerg and his wife Sharon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Edison Lutheran Church in Bow with Pastor Larry Olsen officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Edison Lutheran Church, the Regional Cancer Care Center at Skagit Valley Hospital or to the Diabetes Association.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Share memories of Lois and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com

Lois was my sister in law even when her brother and I got a divorce. She was always kind to me and Tom and I would have never made it without she and Jim when we were married so young. I, too, can hear her laugh and see her smile when I close my eyes. I smile when I think of her in heaven with her mom, dad, and brothers...

Uncle Jim and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Lois and hope that you find comfort in your grief now, and in the days that follow in this time of sorrow. I always remember Aunt Lois as smiling and laughing, and what fun she always was to be around when I was a child.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lois was a strong, loving person and one of the hardest workers I have ever known. Babysitting, canning, selling Watkins, right up to the end. My prayers go out to the family; she will be missed by all!

Lois was a very special personto all. She lead the family when ever together. I was able to visit with her and Jim several times in Wash. She showed us the area flowers and all the antique stores. It is with sadness that I was not able to visit her more. I reside in Minnesota and she loved to come to just see the bright red leaves that we have in the fall.
