VERNON BOVIER Obituary

Vernon Bryant Bovier, 95, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, January, 20, 2011 at Where The Heart Is Retirement Community in Burlington.

He was born on February 24, 1915 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Charles & Ruth (Vernon) Bovier. Vernon grew up in West Seattle and lived his entire life in Washington and Oregon. He resided in Mount Vernon during the 1950s and resettled there permanently in 1977.

As a youth in Seattle, Vern worked for his father's seed and landscaping business and then as a bellman at a downtown hotel.

He later served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the Seattle waterfront during WWII.

Employed by Langendorf Bakeries at 18, Vern enjoyed a long career in sales, including many years as a supervisor, an ideal match for his outgoing personality.

Following his retirement from Langendorf in 1977, he sought other employment to remain active and among people.

He is well remembered for his friendliness and personal work ethic by former co-workers at the Cranberry Tree and Jack-in-the-Box restaurants in Mount Vernon. He took his final retirement at age 85.

Vern was married from 1938 to 1956 to Mary Harvine Bovier with whom he had three daughters. On October, 22, 2006, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Elma Bovier.

Vernon is survived by one of his three sisters, Esther Burnett of Renton; three daughters and their husbands, Carol and Eldridge Higgins of Oklahoma, Constance Bovier and Peter Wolfe of Texas and Marlyn and Robert Scott of Texas; a step-daughter, Della Parker of Mount Vernon and daughter-in-law, Helen Ann Parker of Concrete, the widow of Vern's late step-son, Stanley Parker. Vern is lovingly remembered by 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and treasured friends.

Vern was preceded in death by his two sisters; his twin Virginia Finnie and Angenette Sundeleaf.

A devoted Christian, gifted in encouragement, prayer and singing, Vern was a long-time member of the Assembly of God church in Burlington. A friend to all, he was at home everywhere in God's world.

His family wishes to thank the staff at Where the Heart Is in Burlington for the loving care they provided to Vern from 2003 until his passing.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM. at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Rob Thomas of the Community Bible Church of Concrete officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Share memories of Vern and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com
