ALCARIO REYES Obituary

Alcario Reyes Jr. 84, of Burlington WA, died and went to heaven to be with Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior, Thursday, April 28th.
He was born in Hondo, Texas, March 26th, 1927, to the parents of Alcario Reyes Sr. and Sarah (Saragosa) Olagues Flores.

He is survived by his wife Jovita Reyes, his 11 children; Estella Reyes, Olga (Becky) Reyes, Roberto (Bobby) Reyes, Mario and Hilda Reyes, George and Isabel Reyes, Martha and Jesse Ruiz, Joe Reyes (Helena Yerry), Sarah Reyes, Josie Reyes (Patty Nichols), Christina and John Perales, Melissa Reyes (Raul Velasco); 23 grandchildren; 30 great grand children and 3 great great grand children.

Predeceased by: Mother, Saragosa Olagues Flores; 4 grandchildren, Liza Ruiz, Angela Carbajal, Jessica Ruiz and Abel Paz.

In 1945, at the age of 18 Alcario enlisted in the United States Army at Camp Hood Texas and he was attached to the 397th Military Police Battalion. He served as a tailor, culinary specialist and infantryman during WWII and Korean War. During that time he received the Victory Ribbon and the Overseas Service Bar. While stationed in Germany he had an opportunity to be an observer of Nuremberg War Crime Trials in 1946. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

While living in Texas he met and married his wife, Jovita on April 15th 1946. They had 11 children moved to Washington where they built a life for their growing family. Alcario worked as a machine operator and eventually retired in the mid 1980's from Chris Craft in Bellingham.

He was introduced to the Lord by his daughter Sarah and fell in love with Jesus Christ. He marked the beginning of his Christian life through a water baptism on July 25th 1976, accompanied by his wife and daughter Martha. He began a leadership position in ministry so others could come to know Christ and be saved. Alcario established and led a mission, presided over many marriage ceremonies, funerals, and baptisms.

This man of God, had a meaningful impact on his family, community, country and the world. He was brave, compassionate and caring, accepting of imperfections and committed to claiming the forgiveness of God for 35 years.

Viewing and funeral arrangements will be held at Hulbush Funeral Home, 281 S Burlington Blvd, WA 98233-1708.
Viewing; Monday, May 2nd, 7am-7pm
Vigil; Monday, May 2nd, 7pm-8pm
Funeral Service; Tuesday, May 3rd, 11am-1pm
