Chelsea Anderson Obituary

Chelsea Dawn Anderson, born May 6, 1971, passed away February 13, 2009 due to complications of pneumonia.

Her spirit continued to fight hard but, after fighting the effects of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis for almost thirty-five years, her body was too tired. Now, her life continues as the angel that all who knew her believed her to be.

Chelsea was born in Anacortes, Washington to Keith and Donna Anderson. Her porcelain skin and bright blue eyes captivated all who met her from her first breath. She was third in line of five girls and big sister to her only brother Jakob. At eighteen months old, she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and her courageous, lifelong battle began. Her body did not allow her to do all the things she wanted but it did not stop her from doing all that she could.

She loved to sing, write, take long drives, and chase tornadoes when she lived in Kansas. There was little in life that she feared. All who were blessed to be a part of her life knew of the purity of her heart and the kindness she gave so freely. Her loved ones take comfort knowing that she is in heaven running, riding a bicycle, dancing, jumping and free from a body that held her captive all of her life.

Chelsea was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Vance and Wanda Anderson, and Donald Taylor.

She is survived by her parents, Keith and Donna Anderson; sisters, Wendy Lawrence (Michael), Elizabeth Dixon (Brent), Johanna Anderson (Anthony), Megan Smith (Nathaniel); brother, Jakob Anderson; grandparents, Wilma and Lyle Kuhns; twelve nieces and nephews as well as aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends.

Memorials in Chelsea's name may be made to the Anacortes Public Library, Anacortes Soroptimist Club, the Arthritis Foundation or to the family.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Anacortes Lutheran Church with Pastors Debra Benson and Chris Anderson officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands. To share memories of Chelsea, please sign the online guest register at www.evanschapel.com.

Chelsea's sweet Spirit lit up every sky. The sweet words that lifted off of her tiny lips were always sweet and full of love. If ever anyone needed to be lifted up they just needed to be around her. I see her in every bright billowy cloud with a sun reflecting off of it.

To the Anderson Family

I am so sorry to hear about Chelsea’s death. I was so blessed to have met her. She was a sweet, fun and a delight to be around. I met Chelsea on a radio station call in. I would listen every night before I would fall asleep. The radio station had request for anyone to call in to dedicate a song for their loved ones. The radio DJ assistant put us on three way and we just clicked. I remember taking Chelsea to my school to meet all my friends. She had disabilities but that never got her down. I really wish I had spoken with her the last few years. I will never forget her smile and her singing. I know she is not in pain anymore and I will get to see her again one day. I love you Anderson family and I hope we will try to keep in contact with each other.

Love you Always Chelsea,
Wendy Joy L

Keith and Donna, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Chelsea was a beautiful, amazing and strong woman. I knew her only briefly and through the years was trying to reconnect with her through Wendy L., unfortunately this last attempt was too late.

I feel so incredibly blessed to have known Chelsea, she was a force not easily forgotten with her strong spirit and beautiful laugh. She had an amazing capability to draw people in and want to be around her.

As someone said earlier, it's so easy to envision her as an angel and that Dear Chelsea, is so true.

Many feel blessed to have you touch their lives and while you may be gone, our memories will never be.

Till we meet again, dear friend,
Chelwensa!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family now. I only briefly knew Chelsea when she would stop in and see her mom at work. I was always struck by her strength of purpose, love for life, and love for her family.
