FORREST WASHER Obituary

Forrest R. Washer, 85, died on January 4, 2011 at Skagit Valley Hospital after a long illness.

He was born August 15, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to Charles and Anna Washer.

After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Pottinger on January 23, 1946 and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Upon being hired by Boeing, they moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1954, and then to Seattle in 1957.

In 1980, they moved to LaConner and built their home in Shelter Bay. Forrest retired in 1987 and spent many years traveling with Betty.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; a sister, Frances of Boston, Kentucky; 3 children - Charles (Mary), Joei Lattz (Jim), Terri Ballard (Don); 4 grandchildren, Samantha Waldbauer, Laura Bartroff, Anna Wilson, Doug Ballard; and 2 great- grandchildren.
Forrest will always be remembered for his enthusiasm for life, love of travel, new technology, nature and God.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, April 10th, at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 1511 E. Broadway - at 3pm in the Fireside Room.
