Betty L. Straub

1961 - 2017

Betty L. Straub, 55, of 91 Garfield St., Byrnedale, died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at her residence.
She was born April 24, 1961 in DuBois, daughter of the late Merle LeRoy and Gertrude Fetterman Trayer Jr.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1980. Betty was an employee of the former Ames Department Store and Walmart, in both St. Marys and DuBois.
On Aug. 15, 2008 in St. Marys, she married Kevin R. Straub, who survives.
Betty was a family person and deeply loved her family. She adored her dog, Oscar, and had a passion for photography and arts and crafts. Betty also loved her Facebook and her 500 friends.
In addition to her husband, Betty is also survived by two daughters, Rashell Hupfer of Byrnedale and Brittany Hupfer of Weedville; two stepsons, Nathaniel Straub, who is serving in the U.S. Navy and currently stationed in Kings Bay, Georgia, and Ian Straub of St. Marys; one grandchild; one step-grandchild; two sisters, Donna Winslow and her husband Jim of Benezette and Winifred Trayer of St. Marys; two brothers, Bob Trayer and his wife Dot of Benezette and Gary Trayer and his wife Toi of Thailand; her father-in-law, Richard "Dick" Straub of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Betty Trayer of Caledonia; and by a special aunt by marriage, Mary Lee Bankovic of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Savannah Straub, who died July 11, 2012; a brother, Arnold "Arn" Trayer; and by her mother-in-law, Catherine "Kitty" Straub.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty L. Straub will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Force with the Rev. Mark Mastrian, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 5-7 p.m.
