Denise Marie Siegwart

1957 - 2017

Denise Marie Siegwart, age 60, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Hospice of the EUP after a brave fight with cancer. She was born on January 10, 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Edward Kowalczyk and Marilyn (Barshaw) Ervin.
She is survived by her Barbarian Companion, Eric Cooper; daughter, Catherine Chaput; son, Nathaniel Siegwart; daughter, Rebecca Bosse and husband Charles; son, Travis Siegwart and wife Tealah; grandsons, Casey, Sean, Isaac, Zachary, and Liam; and granddaughters, River and Skye.
Denise was a born teacher. As a child she would ""encourage"" her brothers to play school during summer break. When she became a mother, Denise taught her children to be curious and fully explore the world. She encouraged free thinking and deep conversations. In 2000, Denise earned a B.A. in English and taught at the high school and college levels. Denise reached many people through her retail work. She genuinely enjoyed helping people learn new skills and solve problems and she saw her customers as friends. Her life lessons will be carried in our hearts always.
Denise loved her family and loved her cabin in the woods. She never lost her amazement of the beauty of the woods and the flora and fauna that lived there and loved sharing that amazement with friends and family. Whether picking berries with her family or sitting around the campfire engaged in conversation, Denise was happiest at her Nook of the North.
A celebration of life will be planned for July 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that donations be made to cancer research. Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.clarkbaileynewhouse.com.
