Stephen Pevarnic Obituary

September 8, 1957 - September 21, 2017
The family and friends of Stephen Scott Pevarnic (affectionately referred to by his friends as "The Perv"), regret to announce the passing of their dear family member and friend. He was extremely afflicted with physical health complications due to Congestive Heart Failure. He gracefully battled these afflictions and passed peacefully at his new home in Olympia, Washington.
Steve, the youngest son of Tony and Audrey Pevarnic of The Soo, made his home with his surviving older brother Butch (Mark) Pevarnic, (Olympia, WA./Los Angeles,CA.). Also, he is survived by Aunt Virginia Neal (S00, MI), Aunt Beverly Jensen and Family of The Soo and Lower Michigan, Cousin Carey Pribil Family (Oklahoma) and Cousin Anna Brett Family (California).
Steve had the privilege of enjoying tremendous success in the professional music world, playing with such artists as Bob Seger, Ricky Scaggs, Foghat and numerous others. He was recognized as a world class musician. His most satisfying accomplishment was performing with his Soo band buddies group "The Great Lakes Band". The band enjoyed competing in "The Battle Of The Bands" at Cobo Arena in Detroit and nearly took the first place…a tremendous accomplishment. Steve went on performing as lead guitarist and singer performing in numerous USA Band tours and enjoyed a contract performing at the famous "Whisky A Go Go" on The Sunset Strip in Los Angeles…After leaving the touring world he came home to The Soo, and worked at Jim's Music Store then eventually opened his own flagship music store "Steve's Music Center". He continued to put local bands together and enjoyed making music with his friends. He also enjoyed partnering with our father Tony Pevarnic as "Pevarnic and Son Construction Company"…what a duo.
In private life he had the blessing of partnering and marrying three beautiful wives and also enjoyed kinship and friendship with other meaningful relationships.
Let's face it… he left no stone unturned. He and his family and friends enjoyed a passionate ride together. As his older brother, I was grateful to be able to hold him in my arms the day he was born and the day he passed in our home… I remain a blessed man…
A "Celebration of Steve" Event took place Sunday (10/15/2017) at The Savoy Club, (Sault, Mich.). Donations totaling $261.61 and numerous bags of pet food were raised and donated to the Chippewa County Animal Shelter where Steve adopted so many dogs over the years. A potluck of food and goodies were enjoyed by the large group of attendees. Also, many of Steve's closest friends shared some "Steve Stories" (good and bad)….lol!
On behalf of my dear brother, thanks to all of our family members and dear friends for your tremendous tender loving care over the years. You're the best!

One of the nicest people I ever met. When he picked up a guitar you could tell within 3 seconds what a fabulous musician he was.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Steve. What a fantastic musician and dear person. He gave me room to teach in his studios and recommended me to others for which I felt very honored. His guitar students loved him. He always seemed so humble. I am sorry he is not in our midst in the Sault any longer, but he'll live on in our memories.

Beautifully written, Mark. Stephen would appreciate your tribute. He was a very accomplished musician, gone much too soon.
