LA PORTE - Jimmy Lee Wheatbrook, age 81, of La Porte, IN passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 9:45 AM at Settler's Place in La Porte, IN. Jimmy was born in La Porte, IN, on May 28, 1935, to Randall Vernon and Mary Etta (Smith) Wheatbrook.
On August 12, 1978, in New Buffalo, MI, he married Betty Oman, who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Patty (Walt) Conlin of LaPorte, LouAnn (Paul) Swinton of Devils Elbow, MO, Pamela (Dan) Reed of Polk City, FL, Cynthia (Dan) Borsellino of Pflugerville, TX, Brenda Wheatbrook of Manitou Springs, CO, Louis (Daphne) Lee of Waynesville, MO, Dennis Lee of LaPorte, Scott Lee of Austin, TX, Sheri Hoskins of South Bend, IN, David Wheatbrook of Manitou Springs, CO; 24 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Patty Wheatbrook of LaPorte; brothers, Roger (Shelly) Wheatbrook of Plymouth, IN, Ronald Wheatbrook of Plymouth, IN, Ruth (Paul) Mejer of Mishawaka, IN, Randi (Al) Teter of Simla, CO, and Rochelle Sales of Trenton, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Craig Wheatbrook.
Jimmy was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls fan. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to charity of the donor's choice.
