SOUTH BEND - Dennis “Skip” Donald Deal, 81, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.
Skip was born on November 27, 1936 in Mishawaka to Ross and Marguerite (Ullery) Deal. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack Deal and Larry Deal; sister, Dorene Deal; nephew, Tom Dealand father-in-law, Devon Watkins.
On November 10, 1973 he married the love of his life, Linda Watkins. Surviving are his loving wife, Linda; son, Coby (Tricia) Deal of South Bend; daughter, Keely (Brett) Gray of Canada; grandchildren, Kaden and Makenna Gray, Cameron and Allison Deal; brother, Sherman (Pam) Deal; sister, Linda (Jeri) Deal; many nieces and nephews; his brother Fire Fighters; mother-in-law, Kathryn Watkins; and brother-in-law, Roger (Gail) Watkins.
Skip graduated from Mishawaka High School Class of 55. He was a gifted athlete and holds multiple records at the high school. Skip worked at Uniroyal for 13 years and was a Mishawaka Fireman for 27 years before he retired. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, and a member of the Fire Fighter Union Local 360 and the Mishawaka Alumni Association. Skip enjoyed being with his family and friends, and spending time at the summer cottage and home at Donnell Lake in Vandalia, MI. He enjoyed spending time at the fire station visiting his brothers with Denny Maggioli. He also liked visiting with friends at the Diloreto Club, talking about the good old days. After retirement he worked as a Chef (best known for his soups) at several local bars. He loved cooking and we enjoyed eating his cooking.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18 in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 230 W. Catalpa Suite D, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or Mishawaka Fire Fighters Local 360 Health and Wellness fund, 3000 Harrison Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46544.

Gonna miss you Skip... When I was in my younger years I enjoyed many days after Linda cut my hair, I would wonder up into their kitchen to see and taste what Skip was cooking at the stove. Enjoyed many Family gatherings with all the family at the Lake House. A wonderful Gentleman and Warm Host. Rest in Peace with Lots of Love from all of us.
