Vanessa Griffee Obituary
SOUTH BEND - Vanessa Marie Griffee passed away suddenly on Oct. 16, 2010. She is survived by daughter, Indica; mother, Carol Geehring; father, Jeffrey Geehring; and brothers, Jarrett (Brandi) Griffee of Elkhart and Jeremy Geehring; nephew, Brice, and nieces, Kendall and Isla of South Bend; grandmother, Betty Peppers of Paris, TN; grandfather, David Geehring of South Bend; and many other uncles, aunts, and cousins. Vanessa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rufus Peppers Jr. of Paris, TN, and Virginia Geehring of South Bend, IN. Vanessa was born in Jacksonville, FL, and moved to South Bend, IN, when she was three. She graduated from Penn High School in 1995 and from Murray State University in 2004 with a BA in Graphic Arts and Photography. Vanessa was a free spirit traveling the United States and making her living with her artwork. She was an accomplished artist who had a wide range of interests including drawing, painting, photography, and jewelry making. Indica her beautiful, happy little girl was the light of Vanessa's life. Vanessa was a very giving and generous person; she would be the first to help her family and friends. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM Thursday, October 21st, and one hour prior to the service at 11 AM Friday, October 22nd, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a memorial fund for her daughter, Indica Griffee, c/o Griffee Family, First Source Bank, PO Box 1602, South Bend, IN 46699-0070. I am sorry to hear of this loss. I was a married to Vanessa on June 20th of 1998. Even though we became a statistic as many married couples do going through divorce I always wished her the best and I morn her loss for her family. They have my love and prayers. She was a very beautiful person.

I WANTED ALL OF YOU TO KNOW THAT VANESSA LIVE WITHIN US EVERY DAY. WE HAD A TALENT SHOW YESTERDAY 10-24-10 AND HER NAME WAS BROUGHT UP AND A PRAYER WAS LIFTED FOR HER AND HER DAUGHTER. VANESSA LEFT TOO MANY MEMORIES OF HER FOR US. SHE WALKS AMONG US AND SHE WAS AND IS A WONDERFUL SPIRIT. SHE WILL ALWAYS STAY ALIVE. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL AND IN OUR HEARTS SHE WILL ALWAYS LIVE. ON OUR ENTRANCE TO OUR HOUSING UNITS THERE SHE IS. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WALK IN TO OUR ROOMS AND NOT SEE HER IN HER ART PICTURES POSSITIVE ENERGY ETC. THANK YOU FOR HAVING SUCH A WONDERFUL CHILD. GOD HAS GIVEN HER ALL THE TOOLS NOW TO CREATE HER OWN HEAVEN. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE HER. SINCERELY: IVETH VEGA. GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY GOD GIVE YOU PEACE WITHING YOUR HEARTS.

I REMEMBER SEEING VANESSA HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME AT VISIT WITH HER DAUGHTER AS I WAS VISITING MY WIFE IVETH IN PEKIN SHE WAS SOO HAPPY AND FULL OF LIFE I UNDERSTAND SHE HAD PAINTED A MURAL AND WAS A GIFTED ARTIST.VENESSA AND HER DAUGHTER WILL AND ALWAYS WILL BE IN MY FIANCE IVETHS AND MY PRAYERS.

Vanessa and I were very close friends in Elementary and Middle School. We lost contact in High School when I moved away, but I often wondered where she was and how she was doing. I am very sorry for your loss. She was a very special person, someone who touched my life way back then.
