Eric Joseph Lach

MISHAWAKA - Eric Joseph Lach was taken from this world on November 26, 2013, in a tragic car accident. Born on September 21, 1978, in Mishawaka, Eric was the only child of Joe and Joey Lach. The family moved to Bremen in 1995 where Eric graduated from Bremen High School. He then graduated from Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. Eric proudly carried on the family tradition becoming a fourth generation brick mason. On October 11, 2003, Eric married the love of his life and soul mate, Gretchen Haughey. From this union two beautiful children were created, Zoey Love Lach and Elias Jaxon "Jax" Lach. Eric was a loving, compassionate and giving person with the main focus being his family. It seemed like every stray puppy would find its way to him and he couldn't turn his back on it. He was also teaching his children the importance of their surroundings and how to take care of them. Eric would regularly grow his hair very long and many people didn't know why. He made sure his long hair went to a good cause by donating his hair to Locks of Love. Eric and his father shared a great love of sports. Although he could forget to take out the trash, he knew Peyton Manning's statistics better than Peyton himself. Eric gave 100% of himself 100% of the time to everything and everyone he loved. He leaves to carry on his memory his wife, Gretchen; daughter, Zoey, and son, Jax of Bloomington; his parents, Joe and Joey Lach of Bremen; his maternal grandfather, Joe Farkas of South Bend; Aunt Donna Newman and husband, Rick of Mishawaka; Uncles John Lach, Jim Lach and Dennis Farkas of South Bend, and Mike Farkas of Lakeville; Aunt Debby Umbaugh and husband, Frank of Osceola, Florida; Aunt Tammy Langdon and husband, Bill of Miami, Florida. Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Sue Lach, as well as his maternal grandmother, Charlene Farkas. A Celebration of Eric's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Bremen Missionary Church, 2958 Elm Road, Bremen, Indiana, at 1:00 PM.
