SOUTH BEND - James R. Fischoff, 76, passed away unexpectedly at 8:43 am Sunday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
He was born on September 26, 1941 in South Bend to the late Joseph E. and Bertha (Ries) Fischoff. A businessman, he served as the President of the former Ries Furniture Store. He was a volunteer Fitness Instructor at the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley. He studied Judaism at The Midwest Torah Center.
He is survived by his son, David (Donna Rickles) Fischoff of Brooklyn, NY; his daughter, Julie (Matt Franks) Fischoff also of Brooklyn; his brother, George Fischoff of New York, NY; and his former wife and mother of his children, Mary Sue Austin of South Bend. They all were his source of pride and joy.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 1st at 2:30 pm at the Midwest Torah Center, 2516 S. Twyckenham Dr., South Bend, IN 46614, Rabbi Kuppal Lindow officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.
