LESTER ROY PIERSON

Lester Roy Pierson Marmora, NJ Lester Roy Pierson, age 84 of Marmora, NJ died peacefully at home on July 24,2015. Born in Yorktown, NJ, he was the son of the late Thomas Sheppard & Alberta (Smick) Pierson. Lester was a 1950 graduate of Salem High School. He attended Rutgers University for electrician training. He was a reservist for eight years in the Army National Guard from 1947 to 1955. He retired from Atlantic City Electric in 1988 after 36 years of service. He held positions such as coal handler, electrician, and combustion turbine maintenance supervisor. He worked at the Deepwater, Beasley Point, and Atlantic City plants. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, pellet leagues, darts, puzzling, and CB Ham operating. He was a member of the Buckshorn Sports Club, the Servicemen's Club, the Penns Grove Moose Lodge #820, the Salem Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Salem County Sportsmen's Club, the NRA, and Atlantic City Electric Quarter Century Club. Lester is survived by his wife Anna Mae (Patrick) Pierson of 60 years of marriage, his daughters, Darlene Friedman (& Sam) of Gilbert, AZ, Sharon McCarson (& Raymond)of Brandon, FL, Esther Pierson of Carneys Point, NJ, Dolores Brown (& Stephen)of Cape May Court House, NJ, and Penny Sebastian (& Ross Young) of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren, Ryan Friedman(& Cinnamon) of Queen Creek, AZ, Jessica Gaines (& Trever) of Gilbert, AZ, Raymond McCarson, Jr. of Johnson City, TN, Amy Hall (& Bill) of Riverview, FL, Betty Ann Dilks of Mullica Hill, NJ, Steven Wilbraham of Cape Coral, FL, Nathan Brown of Cape May Court House, NJ, and Tyler Sebastian of Rock Hill, SC; six great-grandchildren, Chase and Samantha Gaines of Gilbert, AZ, William Hall of Riverview, FL, Katlyn Kreisa, Sandra and Raymond McCarson, III of Johnson City, TN; his sisters, Ruth Coffey of Cape Charles, VA and Lorraine Martin of Westville, IN; his brother, Robert Pierson of Pennsville, NJ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas S. Pierson, Jr. and Clement Pierson. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 31stin the H.T. LAYTON FUNERAL HOME, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown, where friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 PM Thursday evening and from 11 AM to 12 PM Friday morning. Burial will be in Eglington Cemetery.
