Shawn Kearney Obituary

Shawn Kearney, 47, of Bear, DE, passed away on April 20, 2012. Born in Cape May Courthouse and raised in Penns Grove, he was the son of Barbara Joan (Nienius) Kearney and the late Jack Kearney. He was a 1983 graduate of Penns Grove High School. He loved boating and fishing on the Delaware River and Bay, surf fishing and charter boat excursions at the Jersey shore. Shawn was a vocal Philly sports fan, with unwavering loyalty to both the Eagles and the Phillies. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but especially enjoyed the moments he spent with his son, Shane. Shawn is survived by his mother Joan Kearney of Bear, DE; his beloved son, Shane Michael Kearney of Pennsville; his brother and sister-in- law, Mark and Ann Kearney, of Bear, DE; his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Sandie Kearney, their children Devin and Aidan, all of Pennsville; his nephew, Patrick Milligan of Carney's Point; his former wife, and the mother of his son, Darlene Shindler Peppel of Pennsville. He is also survived by an aunt, Annie Mills of Florida; aunt and uncle, Maddie and Art Sobelman of Texas; aunt, Constance Nienius of Pennsylvania; and a host of cousins in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas. Shawn was predeceased by his father, Jack Kearney in 1983 and a sister, Patricia Kearney Milligan in 1988. Friends are invited to visit with Shawn's family on Sunday, May 6th, at the Clubhouse at Rivers Bend Apartments, 310 North Broad Street, Carney's Point NJ, from 12 noon to 2PM, for an afternoon of remembrances, fellowship and light refreshments. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the charity of your choice.
