Michelle ~ Steve will always be remembered by me as a great guy, funny, talented, helpful, supportive, never a drag to run into or to work with, and I think of him often.
The night I met Steve, February 3, 1986, our band, Listen, was shooting our first "Showcase."
You were on camera, also Bob Burns (I forget who was on third).
After one or two numbers, Steve ran from the control room into the studio yelling "This is Music! This is what this show's supposed to be about!"
He always had a good word for us, for me. I hate that I'll never see him again except on video; luckily, I have quite a few!

It's been interesting to hear stories or interact with people from all walks of like that knew Steve from his various talents, whether as a musician, his work in local cable television or his expertise in the JFK assassination. I knew him for nearly 15 years and also had the privilege to spend most of that time working with him. I really enjoyed our regular interactions and talks that varied from work related chats, music, food or life in general. Boy do I miss him. He was a great man that is also missed by so many including his loving family. My prayers and thoughts are with Michelle, Simone and Eve.

Stevie Roy taught me how to be cool and how to play it cool. He was an amazing cousin to me-- especially during our youth, our formative years-- and I couldn't have asked for a better guide to come of age with. He was radically kind and approached the world with an open heart and open ears- always on the lookout for good music to listen to, to play, and to share. We both found ourselves in the pop music of the 1960s, with Stevie (as always) being ahead of the curve and understanding how meaningful and important that music would be for our lives and for the cultural moment. He was truly a wonderful man and I will always remember his great laugh and his love and respect for good music.

I am so stunned and saddened to learn of this. I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve in person, but we corresponded quite a bit about our mutual interest in the Kennedy assassination. He possessed considerable expertise in that field, and he was unfailingly generous with his time and research. I will particularly remember him for his kindness, his humility, and his sense of humor. My great condolences to his family.

I knew him only through his research on the JFK assassination, and he was a among a tiny handful of the most careful, conscientious, honest and assiduous researchers.
Bringing this sort of level headed good judgment to an absurdly contentious subject was no small achievement.

To Michelle, Simone and Eve,
Steve was a true treasure. I am remembering all of the times we worked together and some of the long discussions we had about the Beatles, JFK and other topics. Getting to know Steve was an inspiration. He was a craftsman, a sage, an artist in many forms and, most of all, a kind, loving, gentle spirit. He will be missed by those of us left behind but he will never be forgotten.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Steve since my early days as a Hanson Cable volunteer, going back to 1984. He was the "Rock" of Cable Access TV, for the past 32 years !! His resilience and staying power, speaks volumes about his caring and committment to excellence in programing and all of the lives he touched during that time. he will be sadly missed. Bruce R. Steve and I shared many moments together. Some of our conversations got quite deep and interesting. A few times, we would discuss "the meaning of life". Steve's answer was to enjoy and be happy. He lived that. His job was actually something he loved to do. He fathered two beautiful children and kept company with a loving wife. He was talented, respected, and shared in continual creativity and laughter. This life was a good gig for you, my friend.

Michele I am so sad to hear of Stephen's passing he taught me so much about television production I can recall when we were at 4 main street had so much fun working together he was always so very friendly and a wonderful guy that I ever new he was always helpful to me at any time I asked him for his help he was right there. my heat and prayers are with your family at this very sad time rest in peace Stephen you will be deeply missed forever

I am stunned and very saddened by the loss of Steve. Not only was he a fine Musician, he was as likeable a man as I have ever known. We worked together on several shows in the 1980's, 1990's and beyond; I'm probably not remembering all of them right now..."Showcase" (twice, in 1986 and 1990), "Bonfire," "1999 WHRHS Telethon," "Up All Night," "Equal Time," and others. For "Bonfire" we collaborated on the theme Music; it won 1st Prize in the 1988 Massachusetts Cable Commission Awards.
To Michelle, I remember you and Steve coming to our gig in Norwell in 1986, and Steve asking me to play one of those songs on a live broadcast we did a week or so later. We got along well, and it was always a pleasure to run into him.
The last time I saw him was at the studio in Whitman about 3 years ago, for a show called "Know Your Neighbor" or something like that, and he was his typical, professional, helpful and complimentary self.
I will really miss him.

I am so sorry that such a gentleman has left us. He was the kind of person who could teach us all a little about how to respect and to care about other people. He was always there to solve a problem, share an idea, or to lend a hand. Steve, thank you for your support and friendship. I will miss you, but I do understand that there will be a special place for you in Heaven. God Bless You!

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of Steve. I met him in the early 1990s when, during the summer before I went off to film school, I did some volunteer work at the Continental Cable facility in Brockton. Steve allowed me to run the sound board on Ron Van Dam's show that summer and he was a joy to work with. A very friendly and understanding man. Although I did see him once more after that, Fate decided that we wouldn't work together again and I am saddened that I have lost the opportunity to have the close and wonderful relationship with him that he had with so many of his family and friends.
