William Luzader Obituary

William Matthew Luzader passed away unexpectedly at his home in Brockton, June 16, 2014, at age 65. Bill grew up in Saint Albans, W.Va. He earned a BS degree in physics from West Virginia University and an MS degree from Cambridge College. Before moving to Brockton, Bill taught at George Washington High School in Charleston, W.Va. After coming to Massachusetts in 1977, he served as Planetarium Director at Brockton High School, Taunton High School, and Plymouth Public Schools. He also taught physics and physical science at Brockton High School, Milton Academy, and the Massachusetts Academy of Mathematics and Science. He taught astronomy at Bridgewater State University, Bristol Community College, and through Virtual High School. Bill served as a Project Associate for Project STAR at the Harvard-Smithsonian Institute for Astrophysics. He was a longtime member of several astronomy clubs and has been a resource for astronomy education in southeastern Massachusetts. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Luzader, his mother, Martha Matthew Luzader, and his father, Ralph Eugene Luzader. He is survived by his brother, Steve Luzader; sister-in-law, Hang Deng-Luzader; and niece, Makea Luzader, all of Frostburg, Md. Interment will be private. A celebration of Bills life will be held Aug. 21, 2014. For memorial service location and information, contact Steve at 301-697-1381. I remember Bill fondly from coming into the Blackthorne Tavern to see his old friend John O Connor. He was a joy to chat with, full of humor and interesting conversation, a decent good man, he always made me smile. He will be missed.

I still remember Bill from my hig h School Year in St. Albans high 1966/67. A great compagnion and friendl. I remember him playing. the clarinette in band. May our friendly god keep him safely in eternity.
