Dear Carol and Family,
Maurice was truly a 'gentle' man, in all ways. You were always a model family in our Bay Ridge Rd. neighborhood. You are in our prayers.

Today and tomorrow I am with my McElroy cousins in spirit as they say goodbye to Maurice, a good and gentle man who has left us all too soon.
I am confident that Maurice has gone home to his eternal reward, and I am praying that the Lord will comfort Carol, Aileen, Maura, Katherine and Shawn in their great loss.
I also pray for Peggy, Judy, Patty and Billy while remembering Aunt Elinor and Uncle Joe, young Joe, Ginny, Ginny’s boys and Amanda Buening. I pray that as we grieve for Maurice we will retain our confidence that we all be together again some day in a happier place.

Dear Carol and Family:
We were very saddende to hear of your Husband's/Dad's passing. He was one of our all-time favorite Troop parents and a genuinely great person to know. So funny and such a comedic wit. He will be missed by a great many people. He touched the lives of everyone he knew and met. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless you and your family. I worked with Maurice for 19 years and a better man I have yet to meet. Maurice was most proud of his Family and his Religion. We shared a lot of meals on the road and Maurice never let one pass without asking about my family and going over what was happening with his. As we drove around southeastern MA, I don't think we passed any Catholic Churchs that Maurice didn't have a personal story about.
Just after Family & Religion, was the Marine Corp, Politics & The Red Sox. Maurice was, as the saying goes, "Always A Marine." The Marine Corp can be as proud of Maurice McElroy as Maurice was to be a Marine. Politics was an area where Maurice was out-numbered but never unprepared to present his view. Maurice could disagree and never be disagreeable.
All you had to do is mention that baseball team from NY and you had started a conversation with Maurice.
The last few years Maurice and Carol added another family member. That would be a dog. This would lengthen our phone calls as Maurice needed to add what's happening with the dog.
I am so sorry we lost Maurice. I will miss his counsel. I consider myself a better person for having known him. I am sorry I never told Maurice how much he taught me and how much I appreciated his friendship.
My prayers will include Maurice and his family forever.
