Joseph A. Pomarico

Joseph A. "The Pipe" Pomarico, of East Weymouth, died July 2, 2011, at the age of 98. Son of the late Angelo and Josephine (Cisco) Pomarico, he was the beloved husband of the late Virginia (Labadie) Pomarico; dear father of Ralph Pomarico of Weymouth, Janet Nelson and her husband Earle of East Weymouth, Donna Celino and her husband Frank of Pembroke, David Pomarico and his friend Nora of Weymouth, Joseph Pomarico and his wife Claire of Kingston, and Katherine Pomarico and her partner Richard Hagen of Port Orange, Fla. He was predeceased by daughter, Virginia, and grandson, Jimmy Nelson. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was the loving brother of Antoinette Lyden of East Weymouth and the late Margaret Braccia, Nicholas Pomarico, Mary Muscillo, Clara Gherardi, Rosalie Perrone, Lucia Olson, William Pomarico, Anna Morse, and Prudence Lilla. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joseph was born in Weymouth and a remained a lifelong resident. He was a firefighter for Bethlehem Steel and retired from General Dynamics. After retirement, he was employed by Notre Dame Academy and was a pizza maker at Denleys. Joe was a member of the South Shore Country Club and Presidents Country Club. He was an avid golfer and great Weymouth athlete. He was a lifelong member of Weymouth Sons of Italy. Joe was also a Coast Watcher in Brant Rock during World War II.
