Ronald Matheus Obituary

Ronald G. Matheus of Randolph, formerly of Taunton and Washington D.C., passed away after a period of failing health, Sept. 30, 2011, at the age of 74. Beloved husband of nearly 35 years to Sue (Rasmuson) Matheus, he was the loving father of Alexander and Justin, both of Randolph, Germaine, Gabrielle and Ronald Jr.; devoted brother of Barbara McCaffrey and her husband William of Taunton, Gilbert Matheus and his wife Dorothy of Berkley, and the late Everette Mathews; dear brother-in-law of Lillian Matheus of N. Smithfield, R.I. Also survived by several nieces and nephews including the late John Matheus. He was born Jan. 2, 1937, to Germano and E. Dorothea (Sylvia) Matheus, grew up in Taunton and graduated from Taunton High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a technical illustrator for several engineering firms in Washington D.C. and Boston, prior to his job with the state of Massachusetts from where he retired. He had a passion for the Arts with extensive knowledge of classical music, opera, history, woodworking, and picture framing, and, he embraced his Portuguese heritage, especially enjoying the cooking of his mother and sister. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St., Randolph, until 9:15 a.m. Monday followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312, or to the charity of your choice.
