Tim Hosley and I met at Carver High School, where we we both played basketball and football. He was a very good friend and a gifted athlete.I was working on my Ph.D. at the University of Toldeo, when to my complete surprise I saw him on television playing baseball for the Detroit Tigers. I was flushed with pride, and boasted for some time to all of my friends that a former Carver Tiger has made it to the major leagues.
We only saw each other a few times after his baseball career --once on a plane and the last time at the Carver High All-Class Reunion, a few years ago. He looked healthy and happy, talked about his golf game and invited me to his home. Our coach, Waddell Pearson was with me that evening and he reflected on "Peel Head's" tremendous athletic abilities --and we both agreed that he was a wonderful person.
My sympathies to his family during this period, and I trust each of you will find strength in knowing that Tim Hosley will never be forgotten by those who knew him.
May he rest in eternal peace.

My deep sympathy and prayers go out to Tim's wife, daughters, family and friends.

Tim and I played one season together in 1978 in Vancouver, BC for the AAA team of the A's, the Vancouver Canadians. Tim was nearing the end of his career and I was a 24 yr old, on the way up. Tim and I were both catchers, but Tim made it clear he wanted to support me and help me get to the big leagues. Between Tim's counsel and the manager's handling of me, I had my best season and was called up to Oakland in mid August that season.

I have always had a fond spot in my heart for Tim, for his jovial manner, but most for the amazing way he supported me when he could have chosen to be a bitter veteran. Tim was an angel for me.

Blessings,

Bruce Robinson

To the Family,
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Words can't express the shock and sorrow I felt when I learned of the death of a life long friend. We met over 50 years ago as youth playing little league baseball, and basketball at Bethlehem Center. As we entered Carver High School we were teammates on JV and Varsity football and basketball teams. He was a great athlete, swimmer/diver, and golfer. I will always remember him as a great person, a good friend and the most talented teammate. May God bless his soul and may his spirit live on in our lives.
