I remember Steve well from our times together at Lewis & Clark. Good friend; fine man.

Steve was a part of that bunch of guys that really connected the fall of 1965. We teased and carried on until we simply started acting like brothers. He got a bunch of us jobs at the Rathaus Pizza, and we shared two apartments in the same complex (open door policy...about 6 or 7 of us) our 5th year. He put me up for 3 weeks when I moved back to Spokane in 79 to work for Kaiser. Always maintained contact over the years and he joined us in a special reunion of the guys that had stayed in contact, in 1998. That is when we discovered that two of us had MS. Checked in on Steve when he was back with his folks, and then as he deteriorated, in the assisted living quarters. This is a great picture of the Smiley Man that will always be such a part of those "wonder years"

I had the privilege to work for Steve's amazing Father, Bill James for over 20 years. The "James Boys" were like extended family for me. Steve and I spent many late nights working at WAMPUM together in the bank(recruited for duty by Firth Chew). When my husband was President of the Spokane Grand Prix he also recruited Steve's expertise. WHAT A GREAT GUY! I love the photo,,,, looks just as I remember him.

I worked with Steve for several years at LeMaster & Daniels, Cpa's. I always enjoyed visiting with him and discussing his father's interest in photography. I understood that his father specialized in Black and White only. I wish I had know that he was ill as I would have enjoyed visiting with him.

Steve was a friendly and very generous fraternity brother. Rick James and I had the privilege of visiting Smiley last May and he was still bright eyed and enjoyed sharing fraternity stories. It was good to meet Andy at that time as well, Smiley was was a real life long friend and always had a very upbeat attitude even with his struggle with MS. We will miss you Smiley
