Betty J. Teichmer

1942 - 2017

Betty passed away on March 5, 2017. She was born July 8, 1942 to Irene R. (Scholfield) and Harold F. Buckingham in Keensburg, CO., and grew up in Moscow, ID. She graduated from Moscow High School in 1960 and married Mike Burke from Colfax, WA. in 1961, they later divorced. Betty worked at the Gem Coffee Shop and Montgomery Ward's Catalog Store in Moscow, ID. She married James C. Teichmer in 1965 and moved to Spokane, WA., They divorced in 1986 and Betty returned to Moscow and went to work at the University of Idaho. She was a member of the Public Employees Association and traveled to Boise, ID several times as a representative. She retired in 2000, and relocated back to Spokane. She joined the Manito Park Bonsai Group. She liked vegetable and flower gardening. BJ enjoyed playing Mexican Canasta at Golden Corral, Hand & Foot at Vintage, and walking the river and exercising at the YMCA with Nancy Reiber and visits to the local casinos. Betty is survived by sisters Bernadean (LaDell)Yada, Moses Lake, WA: Jackie (Don) Tomsha, Spokane Valley,WA, and brother Bert Buckingham, Moscow, ID, one Grandson, James R. Teichmer, Spokane, WA, whom she was very proud of and loved dearly, several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew. The family would like to thank everyone at Spokane Valley Hospital,North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital and the Hospice of Spokane South House for the TLC given to Betty.
