Betty McMaster Obituary

McMASTER, Betty May
(Age 80)

Betty passed away January 24, 2011 in Moses Lake. She was born in Hendrix, OK on August 19, 1930 to Lee Roy and Maybell Kelley and was the fourth of six children. She took delight in reaching the age of 80 when no one else in her family had done so. When she was 16, Betty met Victor McMaster who was a sailor in the U.S. Navy. They were married on March 30, 1947. At the age of 20 Betty was the mother of three children; Venda, Vicki and Mike. The family lived in El Monte, CA until 1958 and then moved to Canada to study the Bible at Prairie Bible Institute. Her husband Victor passed away in 2002. In 2006 Betty moved to Ephrata to live in the Basin Retirement Home to be near her daughter Vicki. She loved the last years of her life in Ephrata, and she enjoyed living in a small town. Betty is preceded in death by both parents, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her daughters Venda Adams of Auburn, WA, and Vicki (Dave) Johnson of Ephrata, son Michael (Janice) McMaster of Mission Viejo, CA, along with 10 grandchildren Ruth and Matt Hochstedler, John Adams, Paul and Amanda Adams, David Adams, Kim and Chad Lavine, Bryan and Katie Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Ryan, Patrick and Jennifer McMaster and seven great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 28th at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. The Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 29 at First Baptist Church, 327 C Street SW, Ephrata, WA. Memorial Contributions may be made to New Hope Farms, 40 New Hope Farm Rd, Goldendale, WA 98620, a Christian group home for disabled adults where her Grandson David lives.

Vicki and family, I am so sorry to read about the passing of your mom. She was a lovely lady who always offered a meal with prayer, laughter and great food. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, Debbie Kauffman

Venda, Vicki and Mike: You probably do not remember me -- your Dad pastored our church (Five Mile Community on Five Mile Prairie) for a time many years ago (late 1960's ?). We met in the schoolhouse at that time. I was sorry to read of your mother's passing -- she was a neat lady! Maybe you remember my mother (Bernice Miner) -- she died in May of 2008 -- 10 days shy of her 93rd birthday. My husband and I are currently in Arizona or I would have tried to attend the graveside service. My sincerest sympathies to each of you and your families -- it's hard to lose a Mother!
