Bill Hutton Obituary

HUTTON, Bill J.

Having served the Lord splendidly in this life, He called Bill Hutton home on February 15, 2011. Born February 17, 1938 in Delta, CO to Levi and Bertha Hutton along with twin brother Bob, Bill graduated from Sunnyside (WA) High School in 1956 where he won the title of state boxing champion. While serving in the US Army, Bill married Sandra "Sandy" Zepp before settling in Burien, WA where he found employment first with Standard Oil. In 1966 they moved to the Spokane Valley where he began working for Zep Manufacturing Co. In 1981 Bill began working as the minister of education at Pines Baptist Church. After attending Dallas Baptist Theological Seminary, Bill and Sandy moved in 1987 to East Wenatchee where he served as associate pastor at Eastmont Baptist Church. In 1998 Bill was called to serve as pastor at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Suncrest, WA where he continued to serve until his recent retirement. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Sandra (Zepp) Hutton; twin brother Bobby J. Hutton of Madrid, Spain; sister Carolee Pellegrino of Peoria, AZ; their children: Doug (Kathy) Hutton of Nine Mile Falls, JoLynn (Jerry) Yates of Greenacres, and LeAnne (Matt) Watrous of Ellensburg; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Among his hobbies were gardening and spending time with his grandchildren, all of whom he adored. A time of visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2011 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Dishman Baptist Church, 315 N. Argonne Rd, Spokane Valley, WA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service which will be at Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake at 1:30 pm following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Bill Hutton to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Association (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org), 1-888-733-6741.

Missing you, Grandpa...the funny way you said my name (Ay-shley), the way you would watch boxing and your shoulders would twitch like you were in the ring, "Good guys always wear white cowboy hats", the way you would lovingly "remind" Nana ("Now, San..."), signature cowboy getup (hat and all!), first horseback rides, and gentle but firm sound advice when I needed it most. "God first, always put God first."

We'll miss you, Bill! See you in heaven someday!

Bill and Sandy were dear, dear friends and our next door neighbors in Opportunity. Their kindness and love to us will always be remembered. The Lord brought them into our lives at a time we very much needed His touch ~ so He sent the Huttons. Now Bill is with my Mom, Carol, in Heaven.I am praying for you, Sandy, that the Lord will wrap you in His comfort and love as only He can do.

It was a privilege to have so wonderful a neighbor and friend. We have always been touched by Bill's passionate devotion to his pastoral calling and to his family and huge cirle of friends. We know Bill rests eternally now in the presence of his Saviour! May God shower his Grace of consolation upon all who grieve Bill's passing.

Pastor Bill has been my Pastor and friend since we moved here in 2003. I have always cherished our friendship with him and Sandy. His gentle and kind manner and his wise sermons and guidance will be what we remember most. I always thought of him as Christ-like. I especially enjoyed visiting with him and talking to him in the days before his passing. He led me to and understanding of Christ and my salvation. I will miss him so much and look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

As I look back on the last 12 plus years that I came into Bill's life as a memeber of the church then to become extended family. I am reminded of times he spoke of how wonderful it will be to be with our Lord. I will miss Bill with all my heart, but I know he has no more tears and he had an AMAZING life. God Bless his family.

May you rest in peace and take your position of honor at the right hand of our Lord, forever more guiding us with the exceptional way in which you lead your life.
